De europeiska solcellstillverkarna står för ungefär 2 GW produktion, i jämförelse med de runt 50 GW som installerades på kontinenten förra året. Samtidigt har dramatiska prisnedgångar skett på paneler från nästan 30 cent/W till runt 11, vilket är under vad de kan producera för. Johan Lindahl, generalsekreterare för European Solar Manufacturing Council beskriver hur han ser att Kina agerar för att skapa dominans på marknaden och varför just Europa blivit så drabbat av den prisdumpning som sker. Frågan om vilken egen produktion vi ska ha är mycket en säkerhets- och leveranstrygghetsfråga men kräver, enligt Johan, att vi i Europa också har ett regelverk som skyddar vår inhemska produktion.
