Energy prices, a roller coaster ride
To address it, the Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) was introduced in 2005 and, after many years of low prices, has been tightened as a result of a 17-fold increase in prices in the energy and industry sector in six years. Renewable, variable power sources such as solar and wind are the most cost-effective means of enhancing security of supply and reducing emissions.

Summer summary of energy markets

New bio-fuelled steam boiler planned in connection with Rya CHP plant
As part of the green transition and part of the modernisation of the existing plant park, Göteborg Energi is planning to build a new biofueled steam boiler, approximately 177 MWt, in connection with the existing Rya CHP plant, located in Energihamnen in Gothenburg's inlet.

The energy crisis and record high electricity prices are changing the way we look at energy use and access. In Europe, energy has gone from being easily accessible and cheap to being difficult to access and expensive. Even though we in Sweden have not had quite as high price peaks as elsewhere in Europe, the price increase has nevertheless been sudden here too.

Electricity prices in southern Sweden surge
Dagens Industri has asked our energy strategist Arne Bergvik about the continued rise in electricity prices. Arne believes that the energy crisis is not quickly over, rather Russia seems to be escalating its invasion of Ukraine. And Russia's confidence as a reliable energy supplier is already irreversibly damaged.
